“The Doha Singers” is Qatar's largest and oldest amateur choir, tracing its roots back to 1993. We are a community choir, welcoming singers of all abilities. As long as you are willing to turn up, have a go and have fun, we believe that anyone can, and should, sing!
We are a four-part adult choir (SATB) with a membership of between 80 and 100 singers. Our repertoire is a wide one, with a mixture of modern and older pieces. We bring a wide range of choral music to members and audience alike. Our concerts are dynamic and fun, including whole choral pieces, small group ensembles, duets, solos and collaborations with other musical groups, such as the Doha Community Orchestra and Doha Youth Choir. We give two main concerts per year: Festive music in December and a more secular programme in May often linked to a theme we develop as a whole choir.
We have performed in many of Doha’s hotels including the Shangri-La, Ritz Carlton and Grand Hyatt and have also sung at the Qatar National Convention Centre. In November 2018 roughly half of the choir travelled to New York to perform Handel's Messiah at Carnegie Hall - truly the musical experience of a lifetime! We are a welcoming bunch of people with a common aim: to meet once a week, work hard, sing up and sing loud with a smile on our faces and ultimately produce a body of work of great concert performance quality.
